Backlash from SwSh lead gamefreak to put their focus entirely on animations and graphics, resulting in gen 9 opening with Gen 2 remakes that look and play as well as BotW but without major features from HGSS and with only 250 pokemon. Gen 9 will have peak potential for being the greatest games in the framchise. By the time they release we will have passed 25 years of Pokémon, and they have Sword and Shield's generation cycle to try and work out kinks in development for gen 9 titles.
And yet all we will get is shitty, rushed half-games that are nothing but advertising for paper and plastic merchandise.

Dynamax/Gigantamax will obviously be cut and replaced with some other gimmick.
That gimmick will give Charizard, Pikachu, and some other Kantomons something special.
Graphics will still be disappointing.
