RF1 is kind of unusual now in that is much more brown, normal and generic medieval? I guess. It's far less carnivalesque, with less colors, less insanity and no monster girls. Even the token cute witch is fake. Pretty much just a harvest moon with caves and monsters. It's comfy in its normalcy though, like a ghibli movie.
RF2 is also unusual with the whole second generation. But it's otherwise unremarkable beyond the waifu stealing and yue, which is the two only things anons usually talk about 2.
