I thought, UBs, aside, the Pokemon were good, but the region was shit, and USUM were the worst upper versions in the series.

Gen 8 will end up the same way. The Pokemon, eh, okay, but the gimmick (Dynamax) is going to get tired real fast the same way Z-Crystals and Megas did, and the games themselves will be rather boring.

it's a fantasy world, i didn't say animals i said creatures. magnemite could be a species of creature that inhabits a world, incineroar and all the other starters are more like a single, one-off character rather than a whole species of creature

Dude, the starters and maybe Lycanrock Midnight or Salazzle are the only things that could feel off compared to others generation.
Everything else fit the "tropical" setting they had in mind.
They just gave some uniqueness to everyone through moves or abilities, that's all.

I exclusively use invertebrate and inorganic mons, so Gen 7 is my favorite set of Pokemon despite all the furshit. I absolutely adore Vikavolt, Araquanid, Golisopod, Minior, Dhelmise, and the Ultra Beasts. Only Gen 3 with Claydol, Solrock, Metagross, Shedinja, and the Regis comes close.
