I don’t care for it, as it’s rather kitch on a conceptual level; and, in execution, heavy handed with having a literal drum kit and overkill “rockstar” hair. It doesn’t help that those are the only real details that set it apart from being a plain gorilla, and that the color palette is fucking atrocious.

My only problem with it is that the drum looks tacked on. It shares no unifying theme with Rillaboom. Other than that it is a 7/10. Best Pokemon in Gen 8 so far.

It’s easily the best and I say that as a once devoted sobblefag. Pretty simple, looks like an ambiguous primate like a gorilla mixed with other monkeys, neat concept. I like it more than any of the gen7/6/5 starter finals. Still not getting the game though.

This is actually the first starter since Gen 4 that I’m excited to use. I’ve been boxing starters since Unova.

With Rillaboom I can just ignore the drum and pretend he’s an actual elemental monster like a Pokémon should be. The other two just look like humanoids, not Pokémon-like at all.

When Sakurai picked DLC characters by himself it was 3/4 third party newcomers too. Face it, people just get more excited at the prospect of the Smash world expanding with new universes rather than with Pokémon #11 and Fire Emblem #8, and since all the noteworthy Nintendo series are already represented we are left with just third parties.
