>>40670719It added absolutely nothing gameplay-wise or lore-wise but I did enjoy it, if only because it's one of the few moments in the game where a tiny bit of genuine potential shone through.
I'd have been pretty stoked about Let's Go if they were cool new games in Kanto centered around forming an actual bond with your starter and there were loads of moments like this, but the incarnation of Kanto was lazier than ever and the supposed bond you have with your partner only really manifests as a HM-slave replacement mechanic and a bunch of overpowered moves. I don't hate Let's Go but they were a low 7/10 at best for me, and that's coming from an old school kantocuck. They should've had a bunch more teamwork moments like this and actually framed it as a post-Gen2 Kanto sequel with plenty of Gym/location/structure changes rather than whatever-the-fuck-it-is (kind of a retelling, but also a sequel, and also an alternate timeline?)
