Why would these pictures even be in a guidebook? I have the ones from Emerald and Platinum from way back in the day and they never had pages dedicated to the art of specific characters.

Recent guidebooks (ever since Gen 6 I believe) have included concept art. I bought a Sun and Moon guidebook that contains concept art of many of the characters and Ultra Beasts.
