Gen 4 was the first gen that the main series actively turned me away. Thank god for the amazing spinoffs. Gen 5 was phenomenal in all regards, so I'm glad I was able to look past DPPt.

Gen 4 was the golden age for me, with the core games, anime and spin-offs all being a good time. But I was pretty happy with Pokemon through XY. I thought the series was improving in a-lot of important ways up until Masuda stepped down. I haven't really liked a single game since ORAS.

XY was kind of meh but Omega Ruby was pretty great (being a remake of my favorite game of all time, how could it not?)

Ultra Sun just kind of burnt me out, so much I skipped Let's Go (that and Kanto pandering).

I was hoping that SS would get me back. I now doubt that very highly.

Nah, Gen 5 and 6 made me happy enough. It was Gen 7 that really started to sap it.

Gen 5 and 6 were not even as good as Gen 3 but they weren't near or complete trash yet unlike Gen 7 and 8.

>rival is your friend but still acts like a jackass so it's more fun to beat the shit out of him (and it's also somewhat competent unlike Blue with his Tail Whip Leer Rhydor or May/Brendan that don't even bother to fully evolve their starters)

This is why i'll always love Sinnoh despite its faults with slowness, HMs galore etc.
