When I played through Black the first time I kept getting underlevelled and stuck. then, I realized that I had no idea what type some of the pokemon were, and then just felt pulled out of the whole immersion because there were NO old pokemon available. It got to a point I was unable to finish the story anyway because of how underlevelled I was, that all I experienced was frustration. it made me fall away from the franchise until well after X and Y came out.

I don't, but for some reason, the people that do have to be very loud, extreme and obnoxious about it. Like they must hate absolutely everything about it and on top of it, must be assholes to others that do like Unova. They'll usually claim that "Unovabortions" have victim complexes, but are quick to play victim themselves whenever they see so much love for Unova on /vp/ and their Unova hate threads get pruned. It's insane, but I know some of them are just shitposters baiting for (you)s.

As a fellow gen1er I really want to know, did you forget that you can check typing on your pokemon status screen? How did you miss all of the many grind zone which often contianed pokemon who would have a type adavantge against the local gym leader.

I get where you're coming from. I understand many people liked them and that's fine. the reasons I stated above pulled ME out of the franchise for a while. but there was only one mon in gen V that was bad in design so it's whatevvs. (Simisear is literally a walking gay stereotype. it does the hand thing, it has a boa. as a fire type it's LITERALLY a flamer. fuck that mon)
