Everything looks so fucking hideous. Even though the gen 7 starters weren't my cup of tea, the rest of its dex was very cohesive and nicely done, they all had good designs with soft pastel colors, not this NEON BLUE WITH NEON GREEN AND SOME NEON PINK, it looks so jarring and it clashes so bad. How do you go from such a solid dex to this mess? Regardless of stats or whatever.
I genuinely only like Eldegoss, it's the only one that actually looks like a Pokemon.
I don't know if this is because James Turner being a gaijin and all is scared to say "No" to Japanese designers and every little shitty thing gets approved, or if he genuinely has such shit taste. I don't think he's a bad designer, but as an art director this is horrifying.
