It seems like everything is getting worse to me. Maybe they'll continue to reduce the rarity of shinies to the point that no one cares anymore?

You're due for some very quick hunts in the future for sure, statistically speaking. I have had pretty good luck recently, but I feel the SRing I'm doing now probably won't be as swift.

Darkrai is my first real SR hunt I’ve done (other than for mewtwo in let’s go but let’s go doesn’t really count desu). I wish they would unlock shiny legendaries in the new gens, very stupid that they started to shiny lock stuff just so they can release them as promotional gifts and such

Postponed my HG hunt for now. Wanted Shuckle since it got confirmed for gen 8.

Stakataka. Got a 0 Def IV Lonely natured one, which was what I was going for. Didn't have a Synch mon at the time, and was going to just get a shiny as a trophy and do a serious hunt for the competitive one. Got super lucky with my shiny.

Assuming you can see shinies on the overworld like LGPE, it might make them easier. Not sure if that makes it better, but it'll be nice to see them roam about in the overworld I guess.

Yeah, that always bothers me. I kind of get the motives behind the decision, but the experiences possible without it outweigh the promotional benefits IMO (probably only because I'm a consumer and not a corporation). Like my roommate ran into a shiny Giratina the first time when playing Platinum as a child. That's approx. a 1/8000 chance IIRC. I think it would be better if Gamfreak just used the old shiny chances for what are presently shiny locks. I'm really glad they unlocked the UBs in USUM.

Threadly remind that Magikarp swap is the best way to breed shinies because if you get shiny that doesn't match what you want. Wrong Ability, gender, etc. You can just use something else instead and get a different shiny instead of having something that will just sit ib your box forever.

If you have a mon with Synchronize (Like Gardevoir) in the lead, it has a good chance of forcing the mons you encounter to have the same nature. Doesn't always work, but it helps control the nature of random encounter shinies or legends you want to reset. I think it always works on non-nature locked giftmons.

If you hunt in older games, Emerald and beyond let you use the Synch effect. You also don't have to have the Synch mon healthy- it can be fainted. Just has to be in the front of the party. I think Synch works in SOS battles, but you'd have to have your Synch mon out for it to work (since technically in battle it won't be out first if it's fainted). Not sure though since I haven't done it.

I guess darkrai, I've been doing some unfun hunts recently lmao (SM & USUM Starters, Dialga in Diamond that took nearly 25000 SRs)

I think it'll be different, not better but not worse either, overworld encounters made shiny hunting (while easy) really fun in LGPE so hopefully it'll be fun in SwSh

Which ones are your favorites? I like some, but I feel it's a pretty mixed bag. I really like Impidimp's line. I really hate the starters, but I've come to expect that in recent years.
