>>40696042See I think the opposite myself, I dislike Rhyperior's orange palette and think it ruins Rhydon's otherwise solid design, same with the drill horn and overall face shape. Whereas I genuinely like Coalossal. I like that his face is actually a train, the front guard, the 3 small wheels, followed by the large wheel being the cheeks/back jaw. Now the coal stack could potentially look better design wise, but I think it flows well coming from the head as though it were a proper smoke stack without looking entirely gaudy, especially as it's Gigantamax is more akin to a volcano.
I love Rolycoly myself, but I never felt the design had potential, I viewed it very heavily as becoming another Magneton/Dugtrio for instance just looking like 3 of them together to form a tricycle or a train, which I would have found rather bland and uncreative. While Coalossal is very much a Rhyperior/Aggron, or even a Golem it still feels unique to me in terms of its approach while still trying to keep some of that initial steam engine design. It feels more like it went for a more robust and tank appearance, like it's the engine itself, that helps out the lesser evolutions by pushing its minecart mid-stage, while the Roly's help to roll it. It's a design I can genuinely get behind and enjoy the merits of in terms of what it can actually do and become, rather than what it could have been. I feel very much the same way about Dragonite for instance.
