>>40696088Reviews mean jack shit when it comes to Pokémon. The people reviewing them are usually not particularly invested in the particulars of what makes a good Pokémon game. It's just a yearly "Oh, here's Pokémon. Hmm, it's got new Pokémon, a new region, here are some characters and they're alright. Kinda neat that I can play on the TV now. Dynamaxing and Gigantamaxing? How silly. Look at that long Meowth! It's Pokémon all right. 9/10". Nobody ever mentions the real problems each game faces. They say the same face value shit all the time because the series is a novelty more than a passion to them.
Interestingly enough, the closest thing we got to a real point from a major publication was IGN's "7.8 too much water" review for ORAS, and Pokémon fans lambasted it without thinking about it because most Pokémon fans are unable to think critically. If you're only looking to play the new Pokémon and pet Impidimp, you'll be happy, but if you're somebody who thinks about what they're playing and has grown increasingly disappointed with each entry since Gen VI, chances are Sword and Shield aren't going to do a whole lot to change that streak.
