I know. Its incredible. But we did it.
Ground/Steel apparently. Great typing, but it has to compete with Steelix and Excadril now for a slot on my Ground team. Since its a form I'm guessing really similar stats, maybe its attack is higher than its special attack this time around. Hopefully this guy gets gnarly abilities. Given the attention being paid here to Stunfisk, I hope they fucking got rid of Limber, holy fucking hell.

I think Gamefreak is walking back from Arena Trap. They took it away from Alolan Dugtrio for no particular reason, and they didn't even give it to Palossand, even with pic related official art.
That would be dope tho.

I think a unique ability probably, like some anti-switch in ability, like deals 25% on switch in or sharply lowers speed on switch in. It won't be good though, they'll probably fuck it up somewhere by not giving him the right stats or moves to take advantage of it or making fliers immune. If it's good it will be completely by accident which is the case for most non-600 BST stuff

Yeah, Sand Veil. I actually think its a better ability than Sand Compaction. Hopefully Gamefreak fixes that ability in the future.

How about a new ability, where while Stunfisk is on the field, grounded switch-ins take damage as if there were Spikes on the field? Sort of like a Pokemon version of an entry hazard?

Ground/Steel is a pretty solid defensive typing. Yea it's got a bunch of common weaknesses (Fire/Fighting/Ground/Water), but a ton of useful resists too, and Stunfisk actually has pretty decent defensive stats (109/84/99), even though it HOPEFULLY receives a buff to defense since it's a damn bear trap.

I'll dream that it gets Recover or something. That'd be awesome.

I think Shore Up would work. The move is called Sand Gather in Japanese, and it hides in the sand/mud. New form probably won't get Sand Veil anymore but it can still do well on sand teams.

sand compaction was pretty good in vgc
smeargle with water shuriken
palossand with water compaction gets between +2 and +5 boost to defense

Yea there's no reason it needs to be a Palossand exclusive move.

Actually, if it keeps all the old moves it gets while getting Flash Cannon/etc., that could be really solid. Thunderbolt/Discharge mean that it can actually do SOMETHING to water types that switch in, and some combination of Toxic/Earth Power/Rocks/ReliableRecovery are options that old Stunfisk mostly had.

Honestly not sure why they don't make it work like Storm Drain in that it's a 1 time boost but the mon gets immunity.

because it would only be weak to ghost/dark/grass/ice and that's pretty absurd if it gets its defense boosts
and Storm Drain is only a 1 time boost for multi hit moves
