They just dont look like the usual Pokemon.

Because it is another gen. My first game was BW and when I tried older games they didn't look like pokemon either even the starters felt all out of place but of course every gen has different designs

Gen 6 and Gen 7 designs didn't really had an identity they were just your regular pokemon designs.

No, this Pokémon actually looks like a Digimon.

I hate that statement, but Digimon's been playing with devils and straight up demons in their designs longer than any other monster franchise not called or related to Megami Tensei.
