You could use a fucking gameshark or some weird pomeg glitch to fill the national dex without buying the newer pokemon games because they were CODED into the fucking game. You could battle with your friends that used FRLG because shit like Charizard that wasn't present in RS, was still CODED into the fucking game.
I don't even care about filling the pokedex in SWSH, I just wanted to use some specific pokemons in the post game and see how they worked with the newer meta. I'll have to play fucking showdown now if I want to experience that
