Because outside of Pikachu and stuff like tournaments/league battles, Ash is only allowed to catch and use new Pokemon of that generation, although don't ask me about the Phanpy egg. This was part of the reason the anime writing staff asked to make a super Greninja form because Ash needed to use a mega but couldn't use any old Pokemon so thats why Ash Greninja exists IIRC.

Pidgeot is irrelevant and nothing suggested that Primeape would ever be seen again.

There's a big difference between Primeape being left with some CotD, and his Alolan Pokemon being left with his surrogate family.

Ash literally lived with Kukui for the whole series, they were like father and son. Same with Burnet after she married Kukui and moved in with them. They're referred to as a "family" multiple times in both the show itself and promotional material

This never happened. And Ash actually kept his Z-Ring. Team Rocket left theirs with Mimikyu and Mareanie when they released them, but Ash took his back to Kanto with him.

They're with a professor who can send them over any time, just like Oak. Ash has been able to get Pokemon that aren't with Oak back before. It happened with Charizard multiple times before he was moved over to Oak's. It happened with Squirtle too after he rejoined the Squirtle Squad.

Except Kanto is his home and it will always be relevant. Alola will never be talked about or referenced after the next season. His pokemon are as good as released.

I think we will. The brand overall is giving way more attention to trainer characters lately, and the new anime was likely planned with Masters and Go in mind. The reason Ash is going to multiple regions in the first place is probably so they can promote toys and merch for gym leaders, elite four members, player characters, and champions. I think it's likely why the Sun and Moon cast was also extended too. Those characters got statues, keychains, figures, and all kinds of merchandise. There's a clear uptake in general now of the human characters getting focus.

Battle Frontier is different, it was only in KANTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO because of FRLG. And it was a filler arc, not a full show in and of itself.

They aren't shilling anything in particular (as far as we currenly know) by revisiting past regions.

It doesn't make a difference; if the writers want them to appear again, they'll appear again whether they're at Oak's or Kukui's. Ash hasn't actually used one of his past Pokemon since the Sinnoh League, not counting Charizard's pointless return in BW Season 2.

And aside from Incineroar, it makes sense for them to stay:

>Rowlet's family is in Alola and Melmetal goes wherever Rowlet goes

It's too early to jump to conclusions, as we have no idea what the 2019 series might entail

Because it was never shown or stated in the show itself that Gliscor went to Oak's, for all we knew it could have gone back to the Air Master guy.

This. That champion match had very heavy dad vs son vibes to it. Coupled with the fact that ash has never had this close a relationship to any prof or pair of ppl. Kukui isn't his father, but in a way he did "raise" ash a bit.
