It's not so much their actual layout, just that they're more or less the cities they're based on but scaled down. Because I have no idea what Tokyo, Osaka, Sapporo, or Nagasaki are like they all felt like pretty unique places. Seeing them do a place I'm familiar with like London, it quickly becomes clear what the trick is.
