I imagine we can speculate on exclusives based off of the gyms, can't we?

Assuming every gym leader is to have a Giga Pokemon, I imagine Gamefreak might lock exclusives based on you being able to see the mons you can't catch in each version.

I feel like it's the Farfetch'd line for Sword and the Corsola line for Shield because Ponyta doesn't really make sense as a counterpart to Farfetch'd

since sirfetch'd is confirmed sword exclusive by gamefreak, it seems logical cursola is in shield

You can go around the map finding "master trainers" of each specific Pokemon (don't think there's any for the legendaries though), and you can only battle them with the Pokemon they're a trainer of (so your Charizard vs their Charizard or your Weedle vs their Weedle).

Well with keeping the exclusive gyms in mind, I would assume Bea probably has Sirfetch'd and Allister has Cursola. It seems the other exclusive gyms we have could be Ice and Ground, so maybe Runerigus and Mr. Rime are exclusives? We know Mr. Rime is in Shield and apparently the exclusive gym for Shield is Ice, so that would make sense.

We only know that Flapple is a Sword exclusive and Appletun is a Shield exclusive.

Sword also has a Ground gym and Shield has an Ice gym.

Nothing else is confirmed.
