Beacuse it's very difficult to have dozens of artists design 1000 creatures over 25~ years and have them be consistent. The design language hasn't been consistent for a long time now so I'm sure they don't care that much

None of those designs would be in a Final Fantasy game, I know a lot of it's bullshit but FF has a clear aesthetic to its monsters that none of those get anywhere near.

Also Pokemon designs have been inspired by Mother for a while. Drilbur and Mewtwo are two standout ones.
