Mostly no. There are some good designs, but many of the Galar Pokemon lack that something that makes a Pokemon feel like a Pokemon. We have yet to see these Pokemon in action an moving and learn about their personalities, so once I play I might change my mind.

I think he’s an underrated visionary. The UK region could easily have been a medieval rehash of Kalos but it pulls together a lot of influences and manages to still seem new and even intimidating. Based James and his equanimous Pokémon design mastery.

Sadly, I don't think so.
He allowed garish, unnatural colors, anthropomorphism and toy-like shapes to take over the designs. This just reinforced a design trend we have been criticizing for years. Pokémon look terrible, not like the creatures you would imagine finding while exploring the natural world. They look like cheap cartoons, like a parody.
And the male outfits are still gay

Pretty sure it's the trend Masuda gave the ok to. James might the the art director but this is pretty much what they've been doing since Gen 5 anyway.

Every Pokemon I've seen from SwSh looks fucking garbage to the point that I've cancelled my pre order. Dexit was one thing, but the new Pokemon look so so incredibly terrible.

The fags here are just mad about the national dex. A lot of these Pokemon will be very popular because they're either super cute or intimidating and monstrous. They did a good job these times clearly sticking Pokemon in one of those categories instead of going for an awkward middle ground.

Agree, aside from a few instances of pure laziness.

However, I can't imagine the art director being the one who chooses the Pokemon for the dex. I might be wrong though.

It is literally better than most of Sinnoh's design. Sinnoh is truly the worst gen in terms of Pokemon design. The only gen 8 mon that comes close to being sinnoh tier bad is the penguin.

There have been only 5 object mons this gen.
The tea ghosts, runegrigas, the bear trap, and stonehenge mon.
And no the apple dragons don't count as a objectmon. Apples and plants and its a plant dragon. Its no more of a object mon that Vileploom, or Victreebell.

assumptions are not evidence. James turner probably designed Dragapult, and Toxtricity considering it matches with the style he did when he made Naganadel.

I doubted him, but he really came through with the designs. The apple dragon, imp/demon waifu, and hat waifu became instant favorites for me. However, many agree he has difficulty drawing things that look organic (Western artist curse). He seems to specialize in edgy, angular, sci-fi designs young boys would find "cool" (think the Ben 10 aliens). This is why his best works are Naganadel, and now, Eternatus.

James Turners designs are hit or miss.

On one hand u have Vanniluxe but on the other hand u got motherfukin Golurk.

When James Turner designs a good Pokemon it's one of the most awesome mons in the game but when James Turner designs a bad Pokemon its REALLY bad.

This hit or miss nature is especially prominent since he's the art director for this game.
