Now that I think about it, the overwhelming hate for the new designs this gen heavily reminds me of the backlash BW's designs got at launch. So many people completely shat on mons like Vanilluxe, Garbodor, and Druddigon. But now, nine years later, most of BW's Pokemon are loved by hardcore fans. I wouldn't be surprised if people warmed up to these new designs, especially after we see them in action in both the games and anime. They need to be given time.
