Think some of these new mons look awful? Well, the animations might just save them.
I think Game Freak are a lazy company and the games will be average at best but it's kind of silly to purely judge Pokemon on static images when have precedents of them being designed with animations in mind. It happened in Gen 7, especially with Pokemon like Stakatakas, and it's going to happen in Gen 8. No one would have given a shit about Rolycoly if they didn't see it roll around on its wheel. Scorbunny is constantly hopping, Wooloo rolls like a soccerball.
The animations are integral parts of their designs and I can guarantee will change the minds (for better or for worse still unknown) of some people when they are shown. We have no idea how Eiscue or the stonehenge Pokemon move around or attack. The animatons might be shitty but there's definitely the possibility they enhance your opinion of the mon.
