Wait, what? Why do people dislike Ultra Sun and Moon? I don't come here often, i was visiting because of Dexit and the new game. I played Sun when it came out and thought the engine was great and all the Pokemon looked really good.

It's honestly a straight upgrade in every way but it's way less of an upgrade than most "third versions" are and people give it shit because of this...

Several new fights were added, ultra beasts became way easier to come by, there's a postgame campaign, and about the only thing you lose is the fight against mother beast Lusamine

I will say that despite all of the things they did right though there are still a ton of things I hate...the new ultra space area should have been so much more.

It's more of the same, but worse. Plot was remade into some alternate timeline that makes no sense, no attempt was made to make the game feel like a separate entry (just changing the order in which you visit the islands would have been something) and what's new feels superficial at best.
it may not be as bad as SWSH, but it's still a hard game to recommend.

It does fuck with the story in silly ways like >>40813882 said (mostly in ways that make Lusamine seem even more idiotic than she was in vanilla S/M) but as far as overall content goes there is more to it than the first one.

Honestly if you want more pokemon and don't plan to buy gen 8 (like most sane people) you don't have much to lose by giving it a shot.
