>>40820404Well you see dear anon, GameFreak has a publisher, named Nintendo. Now Nintendo gives GameFreak a budget based on their proposal and pedigree for creating products that sell. But they still have to be cautious, because you never know with a new product!
Before the game was released Nintendo had their people look over the game to see how much it matched up to their original pitch and projected sales numbers, what strengths they could use for advertising and how much of exposure it should get to encourage sales. It seems they decided that Little Town Hero was not going to sell or review well even with a large advertising campaign, so it didn't get one.
Now there are exceptions to this rule, such as Demon's Souls which was poo-pooed by Sony's chief of development when he went to look at it, but was extremely well received and was the genesis of the Souls franchise. LTH was not such a case.
