The management seem to honest to god have no idea what a video game is supposed to be. The company doesn't seem at all prepared for anything modern. The jump to the power of the Switch is huge, and there is so much they can't get away with now. Typically, older workers especially in management have issues with younger talented workers, changes in technology, and improvements in efficiency (back in my day...). The product ends up being held back because of that.
Part of me worries that they removed pokemon because that's their solution to not having to evolve, at least not quickly. They're just holding pokemon as bargaining chips so you buy future games.
I guess this is an issue for things that get too popular, especially since gf was a small company suddenly forced to become big. There's lots of expectations, and pressure to remain big every year. Games like CoD eventually broke because fans wanted improvements and publisher wanted less work for more money. Basically same as this situation honestly.
