They're not. They knew leaks were inevitable, so they officially revealed as little as possible so the hype would be inflated once leaks occured.
Nobody gave a shit during SM leak season because nearly all the Pokemon had already been officially revealed.

Two weeks isnt so bad. Fans who want to go in blind should have the sense not to browse niche social media forums during this time, and if they didn't, there were signs to stop when the 2nd stages were revealed.

Better than having the final starter stages leaked like half a year in advance.
