Well, I finally did it. Cancelled my pre-order. Just couldn't do it. HoennDex cut WAY too many Pokemon. Can't believe Girafarig made the cut over Snorlax. Castform killed my bro Gengar, what the FUCK is Castform even supposed to be? Gen 3 is the death of Pokemon.

Unironically what happened, until Game Freak showed that they were other games that had the rest of the national dex in them and they could all share and be used to have a complete pokedex in a single game.

You joke but for years Gen 3 was the redheaded stepchild of this series. Only little kids liked it while veterans hated it due to the lack of compatibly with the older titles, Hoenn being 50% water routes, and the new pokemon designs being less traditional.

It took until those kids grew up for Gen 3 to finally start getting some respect.

I know plenty of guys that jumped off after gen 2 because they couldn't bring up their Charizard.

Having said that, it wasn't as crazy as it is now, because we had only had our boys for a few years. Now, many of us have had our favorites for 15 years. That's on a whole other level from the 4 year old Charizard most of us gave up.

FRLG is the only reason Gen 3 wasn't a massive failure. Game Freak saw the negative response and made it to satisfy the older fans while introducing the newer fans to Kanto.

I have no issue with not having every Pokemon appear in the wild, like RSE, or BW did. I have issues with some Pokemon just never being in the game.

Not to mention RSE literally changed the way Game Freak programmed Pokemon into the games which made transferring older Pokemon impossible. EVs and IVs were completely retooled and have remained constant ever since. Despite this they still programmed every Pokemon into the game. The only catch is you have to get them in other titles but you can have Kanto and Johto pokemon in RSE
