Jail is absolutely excessive because that should permanent housing for violent criminals only, but you've no right to whine if you do that knowing how the system is.
I'm actually more confused by the fact that it seems to have turned out Nintendo has actually been the one dealing with this, though, personally.
Nintendo doesn't deal with IP problems for Pokémon. That's literally what TPC was created for - so neither of the other 3 have to deal with any of that shit outside uploading a trailer now and again and doing interviews in the case of Game Freak as the actual developer.
It kind of feels like it's a sign that maybe they aren't happy with how TPC has conducted themselves the last while if they're stepping in.
