Each game ads new quality of life additions, then they toss in a bunch of garbage, and take away tons of past QoL additions.
This game could have been a Monster Hunter World moment for Pokemon, "Hey, we really wanted to do a ton of QoL stuff for the franchise, but our dev cycle is only so long, so for the next game or so we had to reduce the pokemon count while we update all the old models and worked on all the new features, please bear with us."
Instead its "making pokemon is hard, we're never doing them all again, deal with it, here's some bullshit we'll take away next gen anyway"
