They get absolutely destroyed by Nips on the real ladder, every single time.
It's why they hate BSS and VGC so much, especially BSS because they think their sets and playstyle will still work there.
Smogon is a fucking cancer to this game, retards keep playing that shit instead of learning the real game and it absolutely tanks the competitiveness of the west on the real playing field.

Obviously a lot has changed, but stall hasn't really worked that well in a bring 6 pick 3 format in the past.
Especially since OHKO moves are legal on cart and can be viable.

The majority of the playerbase ignores/hates those formats.
And I should clarify that I don't think Smogon is a bad format, it's the only organized 6v6 singles format, but it's cancer in how it makes people neglect official formats.

Dynamaxing Toxapex only seems useful if it's to help stall out your opponent's Dynamax, but with Baneful Bunker and all the healing it gets it seems really good at that anyways.

It's cancer that GF doesn't provide an official 6 v 6 singles format because bring-6-choose-4 doubles is faster.

6v6 takes too long, period.
And why this fixation with 6v6 anyway? Organized Singles has been bring 6 choose 3 since Stadium 1 in gen 1.

It doesn't take too long on showdown, because they have reasonable time restrictions. It's not the format, it's the cartridge clock decisions.

6 v 6 feels like a more complete format, in that you have more complex and interesting strategies. You can barely touch breadth with 3 pokemon. And, on top of this, it's a format that doesn't reward team preview as heavily. Team preview counterplay makes some pokemon completely useless, and the game would be better with no team preview at all.

Max Bulk
50% Berry, Lum Berry or Lefties
Nasty Plot/Roost
Air Slash
Shadow Ball - for Aegislash
Aura Sphere - for rocks and steels

Dynamax Set Up is hella fucking dumb, especially on a Pokemon like Togekiss
Max Ghost raises Sp.Atk, Max Flying raises speed. You could send out Pex, but it will get worn down by +3 Max Flying attacks as they do ~90% to a max Sp.Def Pex, +2 is still a 2 hit KO. After Togekiss is done being huge, it could be sitting clean at +3 Sp.Atk and +2 Speed while still having plenty of HP left.

And also because animations are very very short, if you can call them animations at all.
And the thing about disabling animations online is that it'd have to be a mutual choice between players, so I don't see a way of handling that angle.

It's called team selection, since every official format involves selecting a team as an important part of the match, that aspect is missing from 6v6 Singles entirely and is the reason that team selection exists.
3v3 is very very rock paper scissors ish, the game begins at the team selection screen and is often decided there.

Showdown = Smogon
The game itself (often called cart) = official metas (BSS and VGC).
This is the best way to go about it, though you can use Showdown to practice official metas and/or the cart to play 6v6 Smogon matches with your friends too, there's no matchmaking or official support however.

Honestly, they need to move to a system where the move animations can trail behind the actual events. It would have worked well on the 3ds, where the top screen is essentially PBR lite and the bottom screen is the actual rpg guts.

If you are 100% new to competitive, I recommend hopping on Showdown and trying Random Battles.
It's a fun way to dip your toes into it without having to do any research.
