It seems unlikely that its a version exclusive. Taking for example lycanroc and apple-dragon line, both counterparts are really differet instead of a "mood switch". This has similar vibes to Morpeko. The only hole in this theory is that the ability seems unrelated to a form change. It could also be similar to darmanitan as in only a Toxtricity with its hidden ability gets this form change.
