you know why they are designed differently
because what kids like have changed
in 90s there was this fucking thing going for monsters, probably because of jurassic park or some other similar movies.
the new kids see other things and as such the designs are different. in fact, i think it's been said somewhere they're simpler to make it easier for kids to draw.
