I havent bought the games since Gen 3. And that was only my parents buying it so Ive never actually bought a game. Ive always just pirated it but I dont even have a switch this time even though I bought a 3ds for x/y and sun/moon I dont feel like getting a switch for these games so Ill only enjoy them through showdown.

This isn't even close to accurate. Studios only see around 10-20 profit from each game and when you buy it all the money goes to the store. The company is paid when it's ordered from the warehouse.

I see so many used copies of lgpe here near pittsburgh. Walmart, target, and bestbuy have dozens of each game covered in dust out for displayand who knows how many unopened boxes of it. Ultra sun and moon are sold out and rarely show up used. Regular sun and moon have vanished. There are at least 20 pokeball pluses in the secure electronics bin. There's a completely full display of switch lites in two retailers.

I don't think people realize that normie casuals have also stopped caring. You're some manner of correct.

Other than the staples like BOTW, Oddysey, Smash, and Kart there's Astral Chain, Splatoon 2, Fire Emblem 3 Houses, and a bunch of good ports like Cyber Sleuth, Dragon Quest XI, and the Sony era Final Fantasy games. It's a strong system in it's own right.
