How likely is it that GameFreak is intentionally holding back following pokemon from SwSh because they know it’s one of everyone’s favorite features from LGPE and want to use it to sell Let’s Go Johto?

unlikely, they just want to keep features like that unique because if they where added in all games we would just get tired of it and start complaing that every game is the same

They probably just added it to Let's Go because they thought it was barebones and the region had long simple areas and a camera angle that could accommodate. Following Pokemon don't look great outside of top down (even with Kanto being so simple to run around in they had to port in and out for ledges and corners) and they think (accurate or not) that their modern games don't need it to draw people in.

I'd love for mounts and overworld encounters to come back as well. Those are my reasonable hopes. What I really is for them to incorporate all the extras from HGSS (won't happen), keep the opposite gender you don't pick from showing up in the story, have the Daycare Man still give out the odd egg, drop the whole story tie into Go and just follow the original story with the original MC, let us battle wild pokemon, and rework the controls. Also, let Murkrow and Houndour be caught sooner and make the game a bit harder. I know if there's a Let's Go Johto, it'll just be a barebones remake of Crystal. I'd still be fine with that, though.

But the catch is there is no Kanto post-game but there will be a revamp of the Johto Safari Zone that will act like Sword and Shield's Wild Area

Interesting to hear you say that. I'd imagine most anons on this board would be (justifiably) screeching at the games being obsolete to HGSS in every way possible

Tbf, the anon has a point. Masuda and someone else (Ohmuri?), stated in an interview once that certain features remain in certains games/gens because they think it's part of it's identity or something similar

They were all in SM because some Pokemon did use the walking animations like in the camera minigame, and they probably just imported the full library for workflow reasons.

Pretty sure they stated that they don't have plans to make Let's Go Johto atm. That they'll only consider it if fans want it. So if you Johto fags want it that desperate you better speak up now. It could that game after Sinnoh remakes to tie us over to Gen 9

The first Let's Go game has my expectations lowered. Thing is, I love G/S/C. I'd be disappointed that they didn't do more, and people would have every right to complain, but I'd still enjoy the game even if it was just Crystal with modern graphics, following/riding pokemon, and overworld encounters.

ORAS qas a safe bet no matter how you look at it
Compare that to a highly experimental side series that ultimately requires a degree of separation from usual Mainline RPGs and more quality control regarding balance and features to lure in the Go players (y'know, the ones used to a FREE game)

People forget that part of why Let's Go was made was b/c they wanted to draw in the PoGo crowd. Idk how that turned out, but I will say that all the hardcore Go only fans I know hasn't touched that game in 6 months since shiny meltan was last available.

One notable thing is that they are using the walking animations. You can see in some promotional material Kommo-o using the knuckle walk from the Sun/Moon datamine. And all pokemon apparently have walking animations used for the Pokemon Camp feature (unless some just plain don't appear or never move in camp).

If they do decide to add following pokemon back to future games, they're basically just one step away from it already.
