I think the spirtes make it easier for some pokemon to look better... not all designs are made for 3D.

They would look good if they had good idle animations, 2d animations in BW era were great and showed the Pokemon personality, now in 3D they´re just standing there...

Making the models takes longer but animating them is far more efficient. Unless you want a game with static sprites, static camera angles, and features like Pokemon Amie/Refresh/Camp cut, then models are more time efficient and are far more easily reusable than sprites.

Can you imagine telling someone you know 2D is what makes Pokémon good, and say you'd only do 3D if it was how players would get to capture more Pokémon and then cut 60% of them? And then imagine anyone defending your choices?

No, it should've had got to 3D models earlier. Pokemon sprites outside gen 2 are embarassingly bad, and the overworld was even worse. At least the models are just very mediocre.

Ok then you go and try fit eternatus in a 95 x 95 pixel grid and make it look nice and not like a cluster mess. I love sprites but the 3D models just give them more liberty with pokemon designs

No fuck off. They don't take longer. Even if sprites did take less time, we're keeping that one set for a very long time. Especially since if we go by old standards. Because like hell they would be involved in the process of making 1000+ new sprites each gen. So if the other choice is permanent static sprites, it's better off just going with models which are meant for that exact process.

I've played since the beginning and even I can admit wanting sprites at this point is fueled by nothing but pointless nostalgia that wont fix the problem or issues with why these games suck.

I just wish that 3D Pokemon were shown much closer to their actual scale (accepting the limitations of the screen when it comes to large Pokemon), and that they got more battle animations, especially battle-specific idle animations.
