On paper, it shouldn't be a contest, Black and White has all the advantages, so what might Game Freak think if Sword and Shield sell more than 15.64 million lifetime worldwide?

XY were eventually able to outsell BW with Go's help. For SM this happened quickly and then sales stagnated due to USUM.

How the price point affects sales (number of units) remains to be seen. It wasn't a hindering factor for LGPE relative to remakes. Unfortunately, it wouldn't be surprising if SwSh outsold BW.

No it doesn’t? BW came out when universal sales where not a thing, so a lot of people either bought Japanese version or just downloaded it on emulator, which ate into sales

BW had more negativity from the general public. While SwSh removing Pokemon is a controversy it's mostly reserved to the hardcore fanbase. BW would get shat on by just about everyone which led to the decline in sales compared to Diamond and Pearl. I wouldn't be surprised if SwSh outsells it from that alone.

Install base does not matter, DS sales are bloated by the constant release of new models and being a super casual console that even grannies bought. The extra game price isn't a big deal either. S/S will easily go past 15 million, the Switch is an insane console that people love buying games for, it already has several of Nintendo's best selling games ever.

Did you notice lgpe sold 5 mils less than other games? No?
And lgpe even took the novelty from swsh of being "the first pokemon game for switch". Swsh will sell around 13.5 or 14 millions.

16 million is what I'd predict if this were a normal Pokémon release with no controversy surrounding it (maybe it'd go higher because first new games on a home console), but with all the controversy I could easily see it dipping to 15 or 14 million, potentially even less depending on how word of mouth is after release.

ANd when pokemon still did local and international releases a year later.

Out selling these games when their busy model isn't fucked and it's an ass and half of effort to just emulate isn't some accomplishment.
