Several clear hints at its typing. Meanwhile Decidueye is obviously grass/flying, and they just pulled the ghost typing out of their ass to make it more interesting.

being based on an extinct animal is a pretty lame justification for ghost type if the actual pokemon itself isn't dead/extinct.

imagine if they made a ghost/flying dodo. not a haunted dodo skeleton or whatever, just a regular still alive dodo. that would be lame.

dragapult atleast has the whole stealth bomber thing going on so it gets a pass.

a ghost-type owl is a great idea, but decidueye is an owl archer with ghost tacked on. not necessarily a bad pokemon, but it is a bad ghost-type.
