Similar situation, I skipped LGPE, I want to play with the new overworld mechanics, I like pretty much every leaked design, and all the QoL added is amazing.
On the other hand, the dex cut is unforgivable, and they really dropped the ball with pre-release announcements, showing the worst of the game up until the leaks happened.
Ultimately, I made the decision to only buy 1 of the versions, the opposite of what a friend is getting, so we could still play together, but I won't buy both versions like I have for every prior set of games.
