ORAS at least has the R/S content to leach off of and fill itself out. It's only deficient in lacking the Battle Frontier everyone is wet over. SS on the other hand is rotten from the foundation up, in addition to cutting everyone's pokemon.

What about the fact that they gutted so much many mingames like the Casino or Berry Blending...or how it gutted exploration itself by turning Sky pillar into cutscenes, removing the shock of seeing a roaming latios and taking away the feebas's autism factor?

That's my point, though. I said that ORAS is better than SS will be because RS was at least good, and it has all the RS stuff, whereas SS has basically nothing. I never defended the lost content from Emerald and have stated that multiple times. He's just offended because I mentioned the Battle Frontier and Zinnia as the core of people's complaints and he took that to be a dismissal because he's autistic.

There is an upper limit on how much detail they can add with just 150. So they may as well keep all the Pokémon. Say they cut the roster down to 200. That's still too many Pokémon to fully animate every bite user biting down on every potential target. That's just one example. So fuck yeah I want all the Pokémon. Making the experience better should come from the actual fucking gameplay.

Because the pokemon collection and battle simulator is what people want. Your Final Fantasy style JRPG or big ass open world Skyrim clusterfuck both go against the spirit of the franchise and could only find purchase as spinoffs.

How is ORAS "easily worse" than a game which probably has even less postgame?

At least ORAS had secret bases (including blissey bases), dexnav and ability to catch a mythical without an event. Fuck has a decent E4 rematch and rematches with random trainers like the original did. That's more than most modern Pokémon games.

Other major franchises on Nintendo systems get the best of both worlds, because they're not managed incompetently. I'm not even just talking about high-effort titles, I mean managing use of the IP in a way that classifies as anything but "Main titles + shitty bare-bones spinoffs." Mario gets 2D and 3D titles. Zelda gets its 3D and top-down titles. Metroid gets the classic Metroidvania and the Prime series titles.

People fighting over innovative gameplay vs raw content + backwards compatibility, as if the franchise actually needed to choose. There's no reason Game Freak couldn't just make a deal with Nintendo to go have them make some innovative spin-off (action RPG or whatever the fuck else you can think of) that doesn't utilize compatibility with older titles, then just work on a traditional Pokemon game that's a raw battle sim and collectathon. Every other big franchise does this because their IPs aren't being managed by visionless hacks that don't want to step outside their safe zone. There is no reason this can't be done.

I understand you anon, but i played this franchise for years and years, and i know that Pokémon will always be just a "cool casual jrpg monster collecting game", it will never be more than that, because people in GameFreak has no vision whatsoever, and to be fair, they never had... we just couldn't see it before.
For me Pokémon is a guilty pleasure, it was since Gen 4 when i realized it was always the same formula over and over again
