It all comes down to insecure boys desperately trying to give themselves a sense of superiority based on what they consider "masculinity" by implying the other side is less manly than them.
When you hear "toxic masculinity" guys, it's precisely this that's criticised, the fact that you hold "masculinity" in such high esteem that you unfairly feel inadequate when you realise you are not that. Some use it as an attack but the real concept is not about "men bad", it's pointing out that the stereotypical image of what a "real man" is causes distress to others, AND YOURSELF.
