Gonna take a risk and push all my chips in on Drednaw pre-emptively, half based on logic from the little we know about it and the other half based on prayers.
For those that care, Drednaw has better base speed and attack than Barbaracle, a Pokemon which shares the same typing as it and IMO almost certainly the same sort of playstyle.
First thing Drednaw NEEDS is Shell Smash and I'm basing everything here on it having it, I don't see why it wouldn't and if it turns out that it doesn't have this then nothing can save it regardless of what else it has.
If it has Shell Smash though then the next thing it needs is to have a movepool as good as Barbaracle and this is where I think it has the highest chance at dropping the ball.
Barbaracle has Tough Claws (30% boost for contact moves), Shell Smash and a very nice movepool to take advantage of.
Drednaw has Strong Jaw (50% boost for bite moves). Strong Jaw, despite having that 20% extra power probably won't be as useful as Tough Claws. I mean ''''''''''''maybe'''''''''''' it will but I have my doubts, there's just not as many good bite moves as there are contact moves in general and that's the sad fact of things. I was praying for a rock type biting move to be introduced this gen but it doens't look like that's gonna be a thing.
I'm not 100% convinced Drednaw is going to be better than Barbaracle though in all honesty.
Despite having the better speed stat, it's still in the range that it's not going to outspeed most things before a Shell Smash, but just like Barbaracle it WILL outspeed most things after one, meaning that its base speed stat, despite being higher, doesn't seem to offer all that much of an advantage, if any. The tradeoff for that speed seems to be significantly less defenses too which is fucking risky because the whole point of this thing is you need to survive the turn in which you Shell Smash, obviously and Barbaracle has the defensive stats to pull that off, but Drednaw might not.
