>>40912113Nope the OP photo is a deer botfly specifically. They look similar because both are flies mimicking a bee, though there's also the odd possibility that a deer bot mimics a bee fly. Whatever blends in with something that looks harmless to the host basically.
You can tell the difference by the head most of all. Plus, a bee fly's proboscis is so long it never even retracts, whereas bot flies have no mouthparts as adults because they got all the protein they needed as larvae.
