There are a lot of complaints that Pokemon no longer feel like Pokemon, because their designs have gotten too complicated or steeped in lore/personality rather than just being neat looking monsters. But I think this is how it should be. Ambiguous animal hybrids/monsters can only be done in so many ways. So many people are complaining that the new rock monster is too similar to Rhyperior and Golem. Of course it is. How many ways do you think you can design a generic rock monster?

As the series has become so bloated with different animals and monster designs the new designs have to become more complicated to stand out and not feel like a retread. So I feel like you should either accept that designe will be more complicated from now on, or simply stop playing the games because they can't go back to just making a bird with fire or a rat with big teeth without rehashing.
