so this thread made me look pokemons history up
wew, any of you knew about this?
Satoshi Tajiri spent his childhood in Machida, a suburb of Tokyo, where he preferred collecting insects. Satoshi chased them everywhere, including on the banks of the ponds, in the fields or in the forest. He always thought up new techniques to attract beetles. The boy was so fascinated by the insects that his friends called him Konchū-hakase (昆虫 博士, "Dr. Insect").
Satoshi did not like to go to school. His father wanted him to learn the profession of an electrician, but Satoshi was against it. Later, in the 1970s, the fields and ponds were built. At that time, the first ideas concerning the Pokémon sprouted. Satoshi wanted to give the new generation of children the opportunity to hunt creatures as he did when he was a child. He enrolled in a technical school.
In 1982 Tajiri together with friends created the game magazine Game Freak. One of these friends was Ken Sugimori, who drew all the pictures of the Pokémon. In 1991, Satoshi discovered the Game Boy. The first time he saw the Link Cables, he immediately imagined insects crawling along the cables. The Pokémon were born now. In the beginning, the game was based on some of the ideas about creatures from another studio that invented creatures. In addition, he wanted to call his newly created creatures "Capsule Monsters" (capsule monsters), because you should catch the Pokemon in the planned beta version of the game in capsules, since the Pokéballs were not yet invented, but Satoshi had problems, the rights for to secure this name, as an early version of "Yu-Gi-Oh!" already claimed this name. So he came after the name Pokémon. Satoshi called his company Game Freak, like a fanzine that Tajiri wrote in his childhood.
