Doesn't excuse his bootlicking. A lot of people think he might be under someone's thumb, especially given how he hasn't really covered leaks in years. Maybe he's on their payroll, but I kinda doubt it. Anyways, he's been in this fandom for a long-ass time and his website has been a genuine boon if you care about news and shit. Easy to see why he'd get a big head.
