First time posting on this board in over a year.
I used to run giveaways over GTS, was a namefag, etc.
X/Y was the first pokemon game to ever disappoint me. Sword and Shield will likely be the first game I ever dont end up buying.
Pokemon has meant a lot to me in terms of how I developed as a kid, the kinds of things I ended up growing interested in, etc. As a result, regardless of quality, I always poke my head in for a new generation.
I dont mind a lot of the new designs, I understand that as time goes on, literal DECADES, eventually the audience and expectations will change. What constitutes a "good" pokemon game, or design, these things are subjective, and things I dont tend to worry over.
The issue, is that gamefreak, as a small group of developers, who never recovered time crunch wise from the jump to 3D, were overtaxed and decided to develop 3 mainline games at the same time, as well as jumping to a slightly modified engine (3DS to switch).
The result is 3 lackluster, not complete, content missing games, that are not worth the price tag.
This is the first pokemon game in a long time to cost 60$, and we've lost half the pokedex, have gamecube graphics, and a roster of pokemon that leaves anyone interested in enjoying the game past the infantile main story completely at the mercy of Ferrothorn and Aegislash.
It's a very large company, they've made very bad decisions, and as a pokemon fan, who has not usually expected much, they've failed to deliver even base features.
Have you seen the graphics? the roster? the empty hallway routes?
I dont feel entitled to certain aesthetics or designs, but I do feel entitled to a more complete game, when they've just been doing the same thing for almost 30 years.
I'll be emulating the game, and then buying it used later. No part about sword and shield tells me that gamefreak deserves my money.
OP, if your still around, why do you think sword and shield are worth 60$?
