Let's Go actually tried and it's a glorified spinoff, not even from announcement did I expect to see all Pokemon in game, there wasn't even a transfer system in place on the switch

Buddy, just because a game is considered mainline by some dickless gooks in a marketing stunt it doesn't mean it is
Otherwise games like Dino Crisis 3, Final Fantasy XI and XIV, the Game Boy Mega Man series and DmC would be be "mainline" too
It's naming convention is unlike EVERY other mainline game in the franchise
At best you can argue it's a different line of remakes and at that point, it'd be silly to directly compare themto FRLG/HGSS/ORAS

I didn't have a Switch at the time, but it's not like that influenced my decision, as I had a Switch half a year after it came out, reasons for purchase completely unrelated to Pokemon. I have a friend that bought both versions because he loves pokemon and has a big collection of every game in the series. I tried to convince him that the games sucked but he ignored me. Why does nobody ever consider borrowing the games? Why is it always buy it, buy it used, or don’t buy it? It’s the same as pirating but simpler.
That’s what I did for LGPE. I waited 5 months, borrowed it, said “Wow, that was bad,” and now I have an opinion based on actual experience without spending a dime. Also, my game data is still available on my Switch if ever something changes.

Yeah, I thought it was fun. Probably my favorite version of Kanto. I also think the gameplay was pretty refreshing, everyone here likes to pretend the National Dex is so important even though most Pokemon games are about battling way more than catching, yet they hate LGPE, the only games in the series to put a much larger focus on catching Pokemon.
