Ok, so hear me out.>One of the biggest problems Shedinja faced throughout its whole life was always immediately being shut down by automatic residual damage >Gen 3 had layered Spikes and Sand Stream Tyranitar which forced so much support by requiring multiple spinners and rain/sun users since Shedinja would die in 1 turn otherwise >Same story for Gens 4 and 5, but add in Stealth Rocks and Toxic Spikes that made such residual damage so common >Come Gen 6, Sand gets nerfed to no longer be permanent, Defog is buffed, and Magic Bounce as the incredible user in Mega Sableye, giving Shedinja a tiny niche since the support is way easier and you can stall out sand now (or use Safety Goggles too) >Same story for Gen 7 >The biggest issue is still Stealth Rocks, Spikes, and Toxic Spikes, still not letting shedinja survive more than a turn with them on >Gen 8 introduces the Heavy-Duty Boots, an item that makes the holder immune to the effects of Stealth Rock, Spikes, Toxic Spikes, and Sticky Web >Shedinja with HDBs can now more easily fit onto playstyles other than a niche version of Stall since it doesn’t require multiple hazard controls to even function >Combine this with no Perma Sand, fulfill its role as a “conditional statement” pivot as the support required is significantly reduced >Every Pokemon that doesn’t usually run coverage for Shedinja now has to run coverage since they can’t rely entirely on Stealth Rocks set by its teammates anymore Yup. I’m thinking it’s OU.

>>40985901 If you think they don't have any of the starters (besides Charizard) from any gen in the dex what makes you think they would remember Shedinja?

someone stick that shedinja in a boot for the OP

>>40985901 Interesting indeed. It's not easy to use so I don't think it'll make it to OU based on usage, but it got a huge buff for sure.

>>40985901 >Yup. I’m thinking it’s OU. Considering the mons that are shaping up to be top tier in OU I genuinely doubt it.

>>40985901 While shedinja is one of my favorites, it will not be OU. Ttar is going to everywhere, so not only will there be rocks for shedinja, but sand as well. Shedinja will barely see use.

>>40986056 even if it isnt OU in the end, i can see it having a niche as a meme-mon or something

With both possibly unbanned this gen it will be awful.

>>40986116 Oh yeah absolutely. Kinda hope they don't ban Baton Pass this time around so it has a much easier time performing.

It’s still a stallmon, hard countering certain threats in return for being a 100% do-nothing mon is a tradeoff only stall is willing to make for the most part. Stall seems like it’s in trouble this gen, which doesn’t leave Shedinja in a good place. Sand, Pursuit, and Ferrothorn being really good also sucks a lot for Shedinja.

>>40986108 >Read OP's post Shedinja doesn't have to worry about hazards anymore thanks to the boots.
It's now mostly vulnerable to sand, hail, statues, and Mold Breaker. It should be way easier to support.

In this generation, one thing it could do is switch on an opposing Dynamax unable to touch it, and just waste your opponent's big moment for example.

>>40985901 >Yup. I'm thinking it's OU >Shedninja has 1 hp, flat, with weaknesses to fire, Flying, Rock, Ghost and Dark. >Shedninja is a physical attacker so let's lop on poison point Pokemon. >Base speed of 40. >Wonder Guard doens't stop pokemon from switching out. Basically, what I am saying is that, it's not gonna go OU. Not without some set up.

>>40986181 Also keep in mind that you run Shedinja to beat things like Manaphy that most other mons can’t, but those mons largely don’t exist anymore and most of the veteran OUs kill you so why risk putting yourself 5-6 if they have TTar?

I feel like everything running hidden power fire is going to replace everything hidden power ice since landorus and garchomp are gone and ferrothorn is going to be extremely potent with magnezone family culled. So shedinja will have to be wary of random HP fire. And knock off spam will be more rampant than ever, so that is another common super-effective move it will have to watch out for.

Since it can do it in earlier games does anyone know if SD Shedinja is legal?
Anonymous
>>40992174 It learns SD from a supposed glitch in gen 3 so you'd need to wait for home to come out to allow transfers.
