I haven't expected it since ORAS. It was only after ORAS that they actually went on the record saying they weren't gonna do it anymore. Admittedly I did have some hope it was gonna be in ORAS because gen III had introduced it, but like always they try to hide such information until well after they have your money.

The thing is that their justification is making the games "simpler" and "more accessible" so kiddies don't get frustrated and drop the game.

Problem is that they flat out don't give a shit about the hardcore audience and prefer to keep pandering to children. That's where the money is, after all.
