Big Red Button was developing the gae on Unreal, and then they were forced to make it Wii U exclusive, which had zero Unreal support, and put a big massive deadline of a year and ahalf on their foreheads. They had to haphazardly make the game's engine work there because making a new one from scratch was out of the question.
And all because Sega wanted to get rid of that "3 Sonic games exclusive to nintendo platforms" agreement before they started working Generations 2 (which is waht Forces became).
Add to that the fact Big Red Button was generally incompetent and ha bad management, and the programmers just basically called it quits on making anything with a semblance of quality.
And now we'll never hear from it again because everyone involve in a management position refuses to talk about the fuck hapenned in fear of black listing.
